Croft Circuit opens up its door for two days of racing this weekend (April 29/30th) as the British Automobile Racing Club makes its first visit of the year.
One of the many highlights of motorsport calendar at Croft, the BARC's annual visit to the north east is traditionally met with a diverse range of championships; all of which produce high-octane thrills on-track.
Leading the billing is the Classic 2CV Championship which will stage its second event of the season, having kicked off their 2017 campaign at Oulton Park in mid-March.
Defending champion Lien Davies enters the weekend as the man to beat having kicked off his defence with victory at the Cheshire circuit. Holding a five-point advantage over Ainslie Bousefield, all eyes will be on whether the top two can bridge the gap to the rest of the grid or whether the chasing pack can close the points deficit.
Fans will be treated to two different formats of competition too with the 2CVs having a sprint race on Saturday before taking parting in a two-hour endurance encounter on Sunday.
The Michelin Clio Cup Series will also resume with rounds three and four being played out around the North Yorkshire-based circuit. Anton Spires and Ben Palmer shared the spoils at the season-opener last month and head into the weekend tied on points at the summit of the standings.
Proving to be in a class of their own at Silverstone, both will resume their battle whilst the likes of Ben Colburn, Tyler Lidsey and Nick White all look to get on terms. In the road class of the Clio Cup Series, Richard Colburn
The BARC Clubmans Cup kicks off a new season of competition with their first race meeting of the year. The prototype front-engined sports racing cars have been a main-stay series in the UK since the mid-60's an this year once again marks the want for such a championship with an eye-catching entry list.
Rounding off the timetabled action will be the ever-popular British Superkarts and high-octane racing from the local contingent in the Northern Saloons & Sports Cars series.
