Battle Of Britain Action Heads For Croft

Croft Circuit welcomes back Darlington and District Motor Club (D&DMC) and its annual Battle of Britain race meeting next weekend (24/25 August).

The popular two-day event which harks back to the 1950s will showcase a wide variety of racing with sports cars, single seaters and sidecars set to be in action at the North Yorkshire track.

It is D&DMCs second visit to the circuit this season and the meeting will host rounds 11 and 12 of the well-supported Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship (NSSCC), which is run by the local motor club and boasts bumper entries.

The series, which is designed for saloon or sports cars, will pit the likes of Lotus Elises, Subaru Impreza WRX STIs, Honda Civic Type Rs and Mazda MX5s against each other across the 2.1-mile circuit fresh from the previous rounds in Anglesey earlier this month with over 40 cars expected to line up over two grids on the Sunday.

The weekend will also host rounds eight, nine and 10 of the Monoposto Championship with the low-cost single seater series returning to Croft for the first time since 2016. Drivers will go wheel to wheel in three 15-minute races over the course of the weekend in machines such as Jedi Mk6, Reynard 883s and Formula Renaults.

On Saturday Porsche fans will be able to get their fix as the Porsche Club Motorsport Championship and Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup take to the track in two 20-minute races.

Round five of the highly competitive Focus Cup Championship will also be contested on the Saturday. Drivers will battle it out in identical Ford Focus 2.0TDCi Zetec S, which is the vehicle of choice for the Focus Cup and is sure to offer some close racing.

Sidecars will be in action when the ACU FRSA F2 British Sidecar Championship return to Croft with races on Saturday and Sunday. The series opened the season at the circuit back in April and will provide some more exciting races as local driver Lee Crawford and passenger Scott Hardie jointly lead the series with Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley.

The headline Battle of Britain Trophy Race will take place at 5.30pm on Sunday and will see drivers from across a range of disciplines go head-to-head in a 15-minute race for the honours.

On track action gets underway at 9.30am on Saturday with practice and qualifying before race one at 1.20pm with Sunday’s racing starting at 1pm.

Ticket prices are £16.50 for adults with children aged 15 and under admitted FREE, there is FREE car parking and FREE paddock access.
