Croft Circuit To Host BRSCC Race Meeting And MG Fest North
The BRSCC (British Racing and Sports Car Club) Autumn Race Weekend comes to Croft Circuit next weekend (6/7 September) with a wide range of cars and championships in action including the MG Fest North.
The MG Car Club will host a thrilling two-day festival celebrating the club’s 95th anniversary that will combine racing, arena entertainment and car displays. There will also be a Pride of Ownership competition and Show & Shine event as well as Carkhana and Parade Laps showcasing stunning MG vehicles, road runs and MG Register parking alongside plenty of other entertainment for the family.
Featuring alongside the MG celebrations will be the penultimate event of the BRSCC season, bringing with it plenty of on track activity. The Kent Models Mazda MX-5 Championship, known for its bumper-to-bumper racing and packed grids, will take to the circuit, showcasing some close racing ahead of the season finale.
Grassroots drivers and rising stars will battle it out in the Clapham North Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship. The series is for up-and-coming drivers looking to make their mark in the sport as they will seek to gain points before the season draws to a close, while the high-performance Mk3 MX-5s of the Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 SuperCup will also take to the tarmac over the weekend.
The Nankang Tyre City Car Cup Championship and Student Motorsport competition also returns to Croft. The Student Motorsport contest sees university and college teams compete head-to-head with privateer entries while the Nankang Tyre BMW SuperCup brings both classes — the rear-wheel-drive E36 Compact Cup cars and the powerful, high-performance 1 Series machines — north to battle it out for the honours.
Featuring the MGs will be two fan-favourite championships, the MG Cockshoot Cup and Hickford Construction MG Metro Cup, which will share the grid creating a mix of classic MGs and Metros. The Cockshoot Cup brings a variety of MG machinery, from modern ZRs to vintage MGBs, while the Metro Cup delivers its signature lightweight racing.
There will be something for Mini fans too as the Mini 7 Racing Club bring both the Se7ens and Miglias to compete while the Ginetta Junior Championship will make a guest appearance at the meeting featuring teenagers behind the wheels of the Ginetta G40s.
Away from the track, as part of the MG Fest there will be live music and DJ on Saturday night (ticket entry required), trade stands and an auto jumble offering MG parts, merchandise and motoring memorabilia, MG Car Club Shop and classic buses offering vintage transport to the nearby town of Northallerton. The action gets underway at 09.30 on Saturday with Sunday’s action taking place on track from 12.00 noon.
