Fans get close to the captivating BTCC racing at Croft
The 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returned after its summer break to Croft Circuit last weekend (2-3 August). A bumper crowd enjoyed a busy, packed schedule of racing - which fired up the second half of Britain's premier racing series title fight right here in Yorkshire.
The gripping title race between four-time champion Ash Sutton and 2022 victor Tom Ingram had been building ahead of Croft and action on track reignited the battle.

The initial pace was set in qualifying, as Tom Ingram claimed pole position for race one with a spectacular lap, edging out Yorkshireman Dan Cammish by almost three‑tenths of a second. Meanwhile, championship leader Ash Sutton, who hopes to extend his title count to a record breaking fifth in 2025, could only manage 11th on the grid.

Dan Rowbottom, Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram each took a win in a thrilling day of BTCC racing at Croft. Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram now leads the championship standings after a successful trip to Croft, just eight points ahead of Sutton, while the battle for third intensifies between NAPA Racing UK teammates Dan Rowbottom and Dan Cammish.
Local drivers including Dan Cammish, Dan Lloyd, Senna Proctor and Sam Osboune all put on a show in front of their home crowd. Lloyd and Osboune bagged two points paying positions a piece while Cammish secured a second in race one, as Proctor stepped onto the podium twice on home soil with a fine third in race one and race three.

It wasn’t just the BTCC delivering the goods at Croft — the racing action was supplemented with support races aplenty from the VERTU MINI CHALLENGE JCW, Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, and the Legends Cars Elite Cup.
In the MINI CHALLENGE JCW, Tom Ovenden and Nathan Edwards each clinched a victory, showcasing the fierce competition within the grid. The Porsche Carrera Cup GB saw Will Martin and reigning champion George Gamble share the top-step of the podium with a win apiece in the two bouts.
Meanwhile, the Legends Cars Elite Cup was a welcome addition to the TOCA package, and brought a dramatic conclusion to its season - as Tyler Read has an unassailable lead in the standings and has been provisionally crowned champion after an impressive four wins from six races. Will Gibson and Trevor Krouse claimed the remaining victories, rounding off an electrifying weekend of racing.
Meanwhile, off track…
To celebrate the BTCC rolling into North Yorkshire, Croft Circuit hosted an Instagram competition offering two VIP weekend passes, a behind-the-scenes garage tour, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with a driver of the winners choice. The winner was selected at random - with McKenzie Theaker the lucky prize winner. McKenzie, got to enjoy paddock access, a sneaky look behind the scenes as well as meeting his favourite driver - Ash Sutton.
